Dear Craigslist,
Please bring me a Nikon D40 in awesome condition for an awesome price. Please include a flash, lens cap, case, and possibly even a tri-pod. Also, please come quickly as I would like to start using you for blog purposes, ASAP. Thank you very much.
Dear ebay,
Please bring me a Lululemon Stride Jacket, size 6 or 8, in white/athletica-grey-teeny-stripe. It is now too warm out for my Lulu Remix hoodie, and with running outside again I could really use one right away. It is so beautiful and gray and I would love it forever. I have been looking faithfully for month now, please turn up soon.
Yours faithfully,
Megan
As I have discussed in previous posts- I am a huge fan of second hand shopping as there is something inside me that leaps at the thought of re-using and finding value and use out of something that would otherwise be discarded. Plus, searching for steals and deals is just plain fun. Who doesn’t like saving money, right? (I sound like a Geico commercial)
That being said- I am a very satisfied eBay and Craigslist shopper… especially Craigslist. I’ve had such great experiences with it! I bought my car (my BELOVED Echo) off of Craigslist from an incredible seller, found an apartment, and purchased several pieces of furniture, all for incredible prices and also sold my digital camera for a price I was more than happy with. And eBay, well! How many times (ladies) have you been getting ready and think to yourself, “Man! I wish I wish I would have bought a pair of those adorable BC loafer wedges (insert your own long-lost item of choice here) that were at Nordstrom 2 years ago!” eBay it!
These days there are two items I’m on the hunt for. I’m not wanting to pay full price, so I’m holding out for the Craigslist and eBay gods to shine their favor upon me. I wonder if I could submit requests to their customer service departments…
Dear Craigslist,
Please bring me an 8 drawer Ikea Hemnes dresser. Either white or black/brown will be just fine, but please come quickly as my clothes are exploding all over my room and I need a bigger dresser ASAP. Plus my current dresser I’ve had since 5th grade, and the white wicker makes me sick to my stomach every time I look at it.

Dear eBay,
Please bring me a pair of size 6.5 or 7 Steve Madden Lonestars in distressed brown. I would prefer that they are available for the Buy It Now option and I would prefer that they be under $50. These are not as urgent as it is summer and I likely won’t wear them a ton until fall, but they would be really fun to wear with summer dresses. So, on second thought, please bring these ASAP as well.

Yours faithfully,
Megan
The following is an EPIC tale of shopping good fortune. A tale you will tell your daughters and your daughter’s daughters.
If you know me at all you most likely know this girl loves to shop. I inherited this from my mother. I think I am more like her than I often times think- but am so grateful for the love of color, style, and design she has passed on to me. It enriches every moment of my life.
From a very young age I have LOVED to shop- however, especially when I was young, money was far from abundant. So, to appease my love of clothes and to stay within our tight budget Mama and I would FREQUENT the local Goodwill. Growing up we would take at least weekly trips to “The Will” as we called it. On fancy occasions we would hit up Value Village- but really- it’s overpriced. I have sooo many memories of rummaging through racks and racks of smokey smelling clothes, looking for who knows what, but almost always finding something, “I couldn’t live without” as my mom would would put it.
So, it will come as no surprise that when I moved from Spokane to Seattle for college I was more than delighted to discover Buffalo Exchange. What is Buffalo Exchange you ask? Heaven. That’s what it is. Ok, not really at all, but it does combine so many of my loves. Fashion, trends, a good bargin, and recycling. For those of you who don’t know, Buffalo Exchange is a thrift/cosignment shop of sorts. They buy lightly used, in style, clothing from young hipsters like you and me and sell it at a fraction of the original cost. So, inventory is constantly moving and there is always something new and exciting to buy. And may I mention again the awesome prices? Almost-new designer jeans- $25? Yes, please.
So, let the story begin. About 2 months ago my mom was in town for the weekend and so, as we always do when she comes to visit, went to BE. Sifting through the dress rack I came across the most beautiful find:

It was from Express, it was in great condition, it was $15, it was a quintisential “Megan” dress – muted tones, elegant design, and it was… two sizes too small. None-the-less Mama and I spent a good 20 minutes in the dressing room trying to make it work. There is a wedding I’m singing in in July that it would be PERFECT for. However, our efforts were in vain as we came to realize that my rib cage may never be that small. So, defeated, I put the dress back on the rack and we left BE that day empty handed.
Fast forward 6 weeks. It is a beautiful Sunday afternoon and I am back at the BE to sell some items. While the too-hip “buyer” as they are called looks over my things to see if any of them are worth anything (always a humbling experience for sure), I meander through the store and once again find myself at the dress rack. While filing through I see the Express dress from several weeks ago. Now, this is strange. BE doesn’t really hold on to inventory like this. You RARELY see the same article of clothing a second time. Especially such a great dress like this one! I pull the dress off the rack, just to look at it again, and then I notice it. This dress has a built in belt. The too-small dress from weeks before did not. I glance at the tag…. OH MY GOSH IT’S MY SIZE!!!! WHAT?!?! Yes, that’s right- it is the SAME EXACT DRESS. IN MY SIZE. WHAT?! This is unheard of! At this point I rush into the dressing room with a huuge grin across my face- try it on- it fits- rush to the counter to buy it and $15 later run outside to call my mom and tell her what had just happened. Really people. I hope you understand the sheer insanity of this event.
So, the dress is currently hanging on my closet door, with all my other dresses- on display as they should be- waiting to be worn.
