With the return of having internet at home has come a few things. One- Pinterest. Two- HGTV online. (Three- more frequent blogging). Having internet access at home (which I did not have the year I lived in The Studio) means I have been catching up on all my favorite HGTV shows online and I have discovered a new favorite, Secrets from a Stylist. Secrets from a Stylist is the result of HGTVs reality competition show, Design Star, of which the host of Secrets from a Stylist, Emily Henderson, was a winner. I won’t bother you with details about the show, you can watch it yourself, but really, it’s my favorite ever. I love it a ton. I wish there were more episodes. Cause I’ve watched them all. Some, more than once.
In an episode from the first season, Emily uses these bust vases, which I thought were the coolest. I love how whimsical yet neutral they are with their kooky character and pale white color. I later saw them perusing Pinterest, this time with succulents- even better!
Hope you had a great 4th!

Free flowers are always a good thing. Especially when they are peonies from your parents’ garden. Dawn and I have been spending many of the lovely Seattle summer evenings we’ve been having on the front porch of our house and these peonies just make it all the better. Plus they do such a cute job of welcoming you home.

hi Hi HI!
Hope all is well with you in blog-land! There have been so many inspiring things on my mind lately! A much needed visit and week-long quality time with the one and only Amanda. Bringing the little brothers to the first all-ages Hot Bodies in Motion concert, watching Greg play with Allen Stone at Neumos and BJ play with Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden at the Tractor and watching Natalie open for Mark Wagner at UW. The birth of Francie Marlin Pickel and Isla Marie Louws! Perfecting the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies I’ve Ever Made and making plans for my upcoming trip to NYC to see brother Mo in The Addams Family (on Broadway, y’all). So much beautiful, good, inspiring stuff going on these days.
One of the things I’m most jazzed about at the moment is discovering the Melrose Market (thank you, Heather!). I think I want to live there. It is an indoor market on Capitol Hill that is home to several businesses a meat market, cheese market, bar, flower shop, home goods store, and a restaurant.

Heather and I went for brunch a few weeks ago and I quickly fell in love with this little market. Such a sweet sense of community and local flavor and so beautifully designed. I was particularly entranced by the flower shop, Marigold and Mint.

Mmmhmmm. Enough said.
If you are in the area, I highly recommend stopping in, even just to look around. It’s completely worth it and will certainly brighten your day.
