Don’t you like my new header? It is a painting called Sari by the incredible Michelle Armas, whom I discovered on Pinterest a few weeks ago (If you don’t know what Pinterest is, please check it out. It’s changed my life a little bit). I don’t consider myself much of an art buff, but her work really caught my eye. Her color choices are so gorgeous! And the story of how she became a professional artist is quite inspiring.
Here are some of my favorites:

The summer between my sophomore and junior year of college I worked at a pottery painting studio on Queen Anne. It was one of the loveliest summers of my life. The studio was located right on Queen Anne Avenue, on the main floor of an old craftsman home and my job was to manage the studio, help little kidletts with their projects, manage the kiln, ring people up, clean, etc. It was a low stress, creative environment and I would often find myself with time on my hands to paint samples for the studio and also often found time to draw. I would never consider myself much of a drawer, but every day I would draw what I wore. It was such a fun project. To have documentation of what I wore (almost) every day of a whole summer, from my own mind’s eye.
I was recently telling someone about the aforementioned summer and my little drawing project and they told me about the blog What I Wore Today. What I Wore Today is a blog where artists submit illustrations of what they wore that day. I just absolutely love it. I love seeing how people perceive themselves. The things they choose to emphasize about themselves, and the stories behind each thing they are wearing. Many of the illustrators include explanations of their clothing choices and perhaps even stories behind the items. From someone who does put a lot of thought and care into the things I wear (maybe to a fault..? :) ), I quickly fell in love with this little blog.
Here are some of my favorites, hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

On Saturday, as I was walking along Market Street in Ballard to Buffalo Exchange it started to pour down rain so I ran into the closest store as I was not dressed for rain and I didn’t want to get all the things I was about sell, wet. It happened to be Annie’s Affordable Art, which I walk by occasionally and notice for it’s awesome SEATTLE posters on display, but don’t usually make a point to go into. However, I ended up finding some really great things!

In honor of my recent Disney cruise… and because I just discovered these on my friend Allie’s seriously awesome blog, I give you these adorable art nouveau Disney princess prints:

**Ariel’s my favorite** I still remember buying The Little Mermaid at the grocery store when I was 4, and watching it over and over and over again. I actually still have the VHS! I also have endless memories of crossing my ankles in the pool and pretending to be Ariel. And I may or may not still think that Prince Eric is darn good-looking for a cartoon.
Which is your fave?

Meg
