I know it may not be the classiest of trends, but any excuse to disguise sweats as normal clothing and wear them out in public is good with me. Maybe it’s the change in the weather, but ask any of my roommates and they will tell you- this girl loves her sweatshirts, and I’ve been wearing them often. However, not the typical hooded college sweatshirt- think more along the lines of crewneck, and with no logos. This love has been most recently illustrated in last weekends’ purchase of a sweatshirt dress. That’s right- an elongated sweatshirt- to the point of dress-status. And it’s black, so with the right shoes, leggings, accessories, I can wear it to work. And I did. Awesome. Who says you can’t wear sweats to work. I do.
Said sweatshirt dress from Express is pictured below in gray:

Some awesome options from Urban Outfitters:

However if you know me well, you know that I happen to own a certain vintage Mickey Mouse sweatshirt that will always be #1 in my heart. What’s crazy is that it was first by brother’s, who bought it at Value Village when he was in middle school, and then it was lost in storage for seriously about 10 years, and then I found it about 2 years ago when I was going through old boxes at my mom’s house. I seriously wear it often- mostly at home- but if you’re lucky you just might catch me wearing it in public.
What’s even crazier is that Forever 21 is now selling an almost identical sweatshirt! Crazy, right?! I like to think I single-handedly brought back this trend. So, if you want to be just like me you can purchase your very own Mickey sweatshirt, here.

{Wishing you a comfy holiday season!}

Ingrid Michaelson has been the soundtrack to my life the past couple of weeks. My pastor actually mentioned a song of hers in his sermon a few weeks ago, which inspired me to get her newest album, Everybody… which I am seriously loving. Her vocals are so inspiring, and her lyrics equally so.
I guess Richard (my pastor) must be listening to a lot of Ingrid these days because on Sunday at the end of his sermon he played the video for Winter Song, an Ingrid Michaelson and Sara Bareilles duet. God just outdoes Himself sometimes when it comes to reaching out to me, even when I’m being so closed off and hard-hearted. He seems to know exactly how to reach me- like having my pastor preach through the very singer/songwriter I can’t stop listening to. Really, God? How do you really know me so well? How is it you are so mindful of me?
You can listen to Richard’s sermon, here.

In case you don’t know, my job at SPU happens to include managing 6 of the most incredible student workers you could ever find. I am constantly floored at how fortunate I am to have such an incredible staff of students and am ridiculously blessed by their presence in my life, every single day. Ok, enough mushy stuff.
Last Saturday I had the girls over for a baking day! How fun is that, right?! On the menu were peanut butter surprise cookies, minty/melty chocolate cookies (unofficial name that I made up), sugar cookies, and APPLE PIE (my first ever pie from scratch)! Thanks to a few Martha recipes, it was a fabulous day.

You guys. It’s almost time. Time for a new planner. Is it strange that I am super excited about this? I mean, really, if you think about it, I’ll be spending a whole year with this thing so really, this is not a purchase to be taken lightly. AND- now that I think this through a little more- it may even be my last planner purchase ever with the potential purchase of one of theeeese in a year.
So, really, this is a really big deal.
Currently the frontrunner is this adorable planner for Paper Source:

Others in the running are:
A repeat of my current 2009 planner:

Time will tell, I’ll keep you posted, I know you’ll all be on pins and needles.

I mentioned these a couple posts ago, but I just keep thinking about these incredible cloth bound classics recently released in the US by Penguin Books. All covers were designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith, who was interviewed on Design Sponge a few weeks ago.
Aren’t they just the coolest? I adore the combination of classic literature with color, texture, patter, and design. I am envisioning them filling the built-in bookshelf in my living room as I type this.
{10 on 10 tomorrow!}
